Compared to the bright sunlight, the flashlight barely accomplishes anything.<\/p>\n
But I crawled down in there to shoot a photo.<\/p>\n
The tracks we saw in the first photo are visible under the water.\u00a0 The water is being dammed up by all of the debris at the tunnel entrance.\u00a0 I would love to drain that water and go in a little further. The ceiling of the tunnel looks very stable and has no signs of caving in.\u00a0 The tunnel appears to stop about 50 feet in.\u00a0 As you can see by the ripples in the water, there was air moving through the tunnel.\u00a0 It either goes around the corner, or it goes up.\u00a0 There could also be a flooded shaft that goes down.<\/p>\n Another entrance further up the trail. This too appears to curve to the right.<\/p><\/div>\n We crawled into another entrance near Pavilion point. There was a shaft that went straight down. This is looking straight down that shaft. There is a remnant of a ladder on the right. There are some timbers on the left, which might be another tunnel intersecting with the shaft. The shaft appears to angle eastward (upward in the photo), which might connect it with the Wide West Mine.<\/p><\/div>\n An ore chute coming down the mountain side.<\/p><\/div>\n I liked the shadow of the fir on the aspen trunk.<\/p><\/div>\n A small portion of the nearby cemetery.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" … or more photos of holes.
