Don’t let me be misunderstood

Lisa posted about the Animals version of this song.  I thought I would share the original version by Nina Simone. It doesn’t rock like the Animals, but it has such desperation.

Nina Simone – Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

I think it’s interesting it says “For Broadcast Only, Not For Sale.”

Uncoiled

It’s Sunday, the end of a Thanksgiving weekend. Today needs to be a work day for me. I am behind on projects. But I really enjoyed and needed the 3 days off. I haven’t been this relaxed, nor have I slept this well, in months.  I actually got out with my camera and took photos (mostly of trains), listened to music (discovered a Ray Charles song that was later added to by the Manhattan Transfer), cooked some excellent food (squash bread, Creole shrimp), hiked in sub-zero weather (above and below the dam) and remained warm.   I stayed away from the computer and caffeine and didn’t allow any schedule making or todo lists.  It was like being on vacation with the comforts of home.

Stuck in the deep freezing muck

Some people find their comfort zones and refuse to budge from that spot.  Even after that comfort zone has withered like summer’s flowers to the frost.  They hold a belief that nothing else will work and causes them to dig in their heels to stay.  It’s like living a death rather than living a life.

It’s exasperating trying to talk to someone in this state.  Nothing you say will sway them. What’s a friend to do?
